Professor Jacqueline Barnes (Chair)

Emerita Professor of Psychology, Birkbeck, University of London

Professor Jacqueline Barnes has more than 40 years of experience of both longitudinal, intervention and evaluation research with young children and families from deprived or challenging backgrounds, focussing in particular of the importance of neighbourhood and community. She has taught and conducted research in the USA and the UK, acted as a consultant for a number of charities and has been a member of several UK Department of Health and Department for Education committees. Now Professor Emerita at Birkbeck, University of London, in the Department of Psychological Sciences. She is a member of Thrive at Five’s Advisory council and Chair of the Evaluation Advisory group. She is also Honorary Research Fellow in the Division of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology, UCL. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), the British Psychological Society (FBPsS) and the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
