Dr Tony Munton

Developmental psychologist & Chair of the Centre for Evidence-Based Management

Tony is a developmental psychologist with 35 years’ experience of policy research for central and local government. Tony has authored or co-authored over 60 academic journal articles and books. He currently chairs the Board of the Centre for Evidence-Based Management. He began his academic career working for the Medical Research Council at the University of Sheffield. He then moved to the Institute of Education at the University of London, where worked for government bodies including the Department for Health, Department for Education and Skills (DfES), the Scottish Office and the British Council.

In 2001 Tony was seconded to the DfES to work on the Sure Start programme, working with local authorities to improve the quality of early years services. Tony then moved to a permanent position at the Home Office and then the Ministry of Justice as Assistant Director of Research. He was the Home Office representative on the advisory Board for the National Evaluation of Sure Start. In 2012, he started the RTK Ltd. The company works with clients to produce evidence reviews, independent evaluations and support for the collection and analysis of performance data.
