We’re encouraged to see the covenant reflect some of the key tenets of our approach in the communities we work in, and to commit to new ways of working in partnership and collaboration with those who are the ears and eyes, hands and feet out into the communities we serve. It acknowledges the unique value, insight and ability to build bridges with those we’re trying to support that civil society organisations bring, and the potential they hold to create a fairer, more just and equitable society founded in the strength of resilient and connected communities.
We need to build on the momentum of today, and of the covenant, to convert words swiftly into action. We need to keep focused on the thing that matters: the urgent need to provide support in our communities where it is needed. There are many amazing examples of existing partnerships between the voluntary and public sector that are working to solve complex social problems, and which embody the principles in the covenant; we should learn from these partnerships as we seek to establish a new way of working across so we can bring about the change many children and families need.
A huge thank you to to Bridget Phillipson for hosting the panel discussion with our very own Aida Cable, Patrick Myers and Norah Minshall, and to the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales for England and Wales, Matt Hyde OBE and PBE for hosting such a brilliant event.
